Mushroom art doll tutorial
To commemorate the start of Autumn, I decided to make a new tutorial for you! This Fly Agaric mushroom doll is one of my best-selling dolls on Etsy. So I figured it would be interesting to show the process. I’ve been working on my Youtube channel more, so you’re getting a video tutorial for this too. Keep on reading, and let’s make some dolls together.

Materials
White acrylic paint - I use them to paint the base layer of the face, paint highlights, and other details.
Watercolors - great for painting the features.
Soft pastels - blushing the face.
Matt varnish - sealing the paint and pastels.
Thin watercolor brush - for painting the features.
Glue - for gluing the face.
Various fabrics - for doll’s body and cap.
Plush toy stuffing - for stuffing the body.
Embroidery thread - embroidering the cap.
Video tutorial
I filmed a step-by-step video tutorial where you can see how these Fly Agaric mushroom dolls are made. I skipped a face sculpting part since there are some tutorials available on my blog, and the video was getting pretty long.
Sewing pattern
I created this sewing pattern myself, and you can print it out on A4 paper with a regular printer in your home. I included the seam allowance as well, but if you like, you can add a little bit more Download the sewing pattern here.
Fabrics
For sewing the doll’s body, I used some off-white fleece. It’s sturdy and has a very soft texture to it. To create a cap, I used textured wool. It’s almost like a thin coat fabric. I loved the texture and thickness of it. Other details, like the lining of the cap, or a skirt, were made of thin white cotton. If you can, go to your local fabric store so you’d be able to touch all the fabrics and see what works for you. The texture is very important for plush dolls!
I hope you’ll enjoy this tutorial. Subscribe to my Youtube channel, that way you won’t miss any new videos. As always, I’m happy to answer all your questions in the comments!
